Beavers Wins CAC Rookie of the Year

YORK, Pa. - Wesley junior Larry Beavers (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) was named the 2008 Capital Athletice Conference (CAC) Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Year, as voted by the CAC coaches.

In the Wolverines' first varsity track & field season, Beavers placed first in the 110-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and placed second in the 100-meter dash and long jump.  In addition, he anchored the second place 4x100-meter relay team.

Competitors finishing either first or second in their event are named to the All-CAC team.  This means Beavers was an All-CAC first teamer in the 110 hurdles and 200, while claiming second team honors in the 100, long jump and 4x100.

Also running on the 4x100 and gaining All-CAC second team honors were Michael Clarke, Matt Robertson and Sean Randall.

Wesley finished fourth at the CAC Championships and the three teams ahead of the Wolverines, Salisbury, Mary Washington and York (Pa.), have combined to win every CAC Track & Field Championship in conference history.
