Beavers Runs NCAA Provisional in 60m

NEWARK, Del. - Wesley College's Larry Beavers (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) ran a 6.90 to make the NCAA Provisional cut in the 60-meter dash and won two other events as the Wolverines finished fifth at the Delaware Invitational.
Separate scoring was kept at the meet with Division I programs scoring against one another and Division II and III teams scoring against each another.
Beavers placed second in the event to Anthony Bishop of Division II Lincoln (Pa.) University, who also ran a 6.90. The senior also won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.61, winning the Division II/III heat by over half a second and running faster than all six Division I entries.
In the 200-meter, Beavers ran a 22.48, six tenths faster than the next closest competitor in the Division II/III heat.
Both his 60-meter and 60-meter hurdle times also set school records for the second year program, all of which were set by Beavers a year ago. He fell just .01 short of a school mark in the 200-meter.
Chris Donisi (Woodbury, N.J./West Deptford) was the highest finisher among Division III entries in the long jump with a mark of 20-10.75. He finished fourth, outleaping Beavers, who finished fifth, by one inch. His time was also nearly a quarter second faster than the winner of the Division I heat.
Wesley returns to Newark for its next competition, at Delaware's Thomson Invitational on January 31.
