Ford, Watson Set New Standards at Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Freshmen Mike Ford and Carl Watson broke school-records as the Wesley College track & field team opened the 2013 calendar year at the Kutztown Collegiate Invitational on Friday night.

Ford broke his own school-record in the shot put by over a foot and a half, placing fifth with a toss of 44' 5.25". Watson took second place in the 500m Dash, crossing the finish in 1:11.96, shattering a two-year-old school mark by nearly eight seconds.

While just missing out on the Capital Athletic Conference triple jump record he set in December, freshman Lamar Monroe took second overall, and first among attached athletes with a 44' 5.50" effort.

Zachary Taylor had an impressive showing in all three of his jumps on the night.  He took fourth in the high jump (5' 10.75"), fifth in the triple jump (38' 9") and sixth in the long jump (21' 3.50").

Matt Bundy also competed in his first meet of the year following football season, finishing the 55m Dash in 6.76.

The Wolverines return to action in two weeks at the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va.
