FAIRFAX, Va. – Sophomore Matt Bundy won the 60m hurdles and freshman Robert Wiggs finished second in both the long jump and triple jump as the Wesley College women's track & field team placed fifth at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon at the George Mason University Fieldhouse.
Despite finishing fifth, the Wolverines placed second when counting just the sprints, jumps and throws, and every student-athlete returns next season.
Running in a CAC-high six events on the day, Bundy won the 60m hurdles for the second-straight year in 8.23. He also managed to take bronze in the 200m (22.78) and fifth in the 60m Dash (7.14). He also ran the 400m Dash in 52.93, one of three Wolverines to break the previous school-record in the event.
Wiggs earned all-conference honors in both of his jumps by jumping 6.53m in the long jump and 13.03m in the triple jump.
Perhaps highlighting the day was freshman Mike Ford who finished fourth in the weight throw. His toss of 14.21m broke the old Wesley record by over five feet.
First-year performer Patrick Wittle also broke his own school-record in the 5,000m Run by nearly a minute with a 19:39.64 performance.
