Sheppard, Webb Lead Track Over Weekend

DOVER, Del. – Several Wesley College track & field athletes competed over the weekend in various events at the Coppin State Invitational and Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.

Carlton Sheppard improved his times in the 800m Run in both meets, starting with 1:52.68 at Coppin State before shaving nearly a quarter-second off at the Swarthmore, coming in a 1:52.45 despite running in the second heat.  Sheppard also ran a leg of the 4x400m Relay which finished in 3:14.92 in Baltimore to rank 12th in the Nation.  Joining Sheppard were freshmen Patrick Schlosser, Anthony Brinkley and Evan Le'Mon.

Also at Coppin, DaJahn Lowery finished the 100m in 10.91 while Noel Spencer won his heat in 11.33.

On the women's side, freshman Kameko Webb shattered her own school-record in the long jump with an effort of 18-9, ranking ninth in the Nation.  Webb also led off the 4x100m Relay which won in a winning time of 48.40 to break its own CAC-record.  Following Webb was classmates Elizsha Streeter, Angel Hall and Kiona Mency.

Stevi Carpenter also set a personal record in the 400m Run, clocking a 58.63.

Wesley concludes its season at the Salisbury Last Chance Meet on Friday, May 16, as the Wolverines have several student-athletes who will look to qualify for the NCAA Championships held later this month in Delaware, Ohio.
