DELAWARE, Ohio – The Wesley College all-freshman 4x100m Relay of Patrick Schlosser, DaJahn Lowery, Markael Jenkins and Johnny Crenshaw finished third at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Selby Stadium on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.
Earning the fourth seed after the preliminaries, Wesley was placed in lane six and ran a CAC and Stadium-Record 40.71, placing just behind La Verne (40.52) and Greenville (40.58). The Wolverines beat out Augustana (41.01), Mount Union (41.26), Brockport State (41.46), Occidental (41.55) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (DNF).
"I am so proud that our young relay was able to concentrate and focus on the biggest stage of their young careers and come so close to winning it all," said head coach Stephen Kimes. " I like our young sprinters and believe that this will catapult us to running even faster next year to reach our goal of winning a National Championship."
Taking the bronze medal and six points, this is the highest finish for the Wolverines at the National Championship meet and it is the first relay team in Capital Athletic Conference history to earn All-America honors.
