DOVER, Del. - After an outstanding performance at the Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, Wesley Men's Track and Field freshman Anthony Simpson was named South Region Rookie of the Week by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association.
In the Capital Athletic Conference Championships, Simpson blew away the competition to earn gold medals in the 60-meter and the 200-meter dash. Simpson posted a 6.87 finish in the preliminaries before setting the CAC Indoor Championships meet record with a 6.82 finish for gold in the 60m. In the 200m, the freshman crossed the line in 22.30, recording the fastest time by any CAC athlete this season. He also anchored Wesley's 4x400 relay team that finished second with a time of 3:25.55.
Simpson and the Wolverines will head to Boston this weekend for the Boston Last Chance Meet, hosted by Boston University.
