Wolverine men crack top-five for first time in school history

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Wesley College men's track & field team is ranked in the top five for the first time in school history in the latest Men's National Team Rankings that were released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Wolverine men climbed a spot in the rankings from sixth to fifth, collecting 79.06 points in the computerized rankings. Wisconsin-La Crosse is the top-ranked men's team with 151.49 points while MIT, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Benedictine (Ill.) are placed above Wesley.

The Wolverine women maintained their position at 17th.

The men's team features five athletes that are ranked in the top-10 in their events and two athletes who are in the top-three. The Wesley women carry three athletes with top-10 marks.

The Wolverine men's and women's track & field teams recorded 17 top-five finishes at the Frank Colden Invitational last Saturday, held at Ursinus College.

The Wolverine women will be in action Thursday when they travel to the U.S. Naval Academy for the Multi-Mix Meet. Following that meet, the men's and women's track & field teams will compete at the Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Christopher Newport University. The two-day championships start on Friday, Feb. 17.
