Harris-Winbush earns silver at first day of CAC Track & Field Championships

SALISBURY, Md. – The Wesley College men's track & field team opened competition on Friday at the two-day Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Salisbury University.

Daquay Harris-Winbush picked up the silver medal and All-CAC Second Team honors in the long jump. He registered a mark of 7.20 meters (23-7.5), just 1.5 inches shy of the winning mark and a personal record. Myles Toppin also scored in the long jump, finishing in sixth place with a leap of 6.91 meters (22-8), which was also a personal best.

Justin Cowgill and D'Shon Sanders picked up points for Wesley in the javelin throw. Cowgill placed fifth with a throw of 47.19 meters (154-10) while Sanders finished in eighth place with a mark of 35.01 meters (114-10).

Wesley qualified four runners in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Greg Taylor qualified with the best time in the 100 meters, finishing in 11.17 seconds while TySean Cousar had the best qualifying time in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 22.02 seconds. Christian Saulsbury (11.25), Aaron Gaither and John Heriot (11.45) also qualified for the finals of the 100. Heriot (22.55), Taylor (22.62) and Dominic McAnulty (22.89) advanced to the finals in the 200 dash.

Toppin and Roland Attoh-Okine qualified for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles. Attoh-Okine had the best qualifying time of 14.82 seconds while Toppin was in fifth with a time of 16.05 seconds.

The second day of the CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships begin at 10 a.m. with the field events and 12:30 p.m. with the track events.
