DOVER, Del. – The Southern Maine University athletic department recently announced that former Wesley College track & field assistant Michael Roscoe will be joining the staff as an assistant for the Huskies track & field program.
"I'm excited about the move but I'm definitely sad to be leaving Wesley," stated Roscoe. "I want to thank Coach (Stephen) Kimes for giving me the opportunity to enter the collegiate ranks and I truly believe that Wesley has a chance of making a run at a team national championship."
Roscoe spent six seasons with Wesley as the coach of the hurdles, jumpers and multi-athletes. He assisted head coach Stephen Kimes in transforming the track & field program into one of the top teams in the nation. Roscoe had a hand in coaching five national champions, 41 NCAA/USTFCCCA All-Americans, 81 NCAA National Qualifiers, 114 CAC/ECAC Champions, and 206 All-CAC honorees.
"We want to thank Coach Roscoe for all of his hard work, dedication, service and personal sacrifice to the Wesley College track & field program," said Kimes. "Our program's success has always been shared equally amongst our coaches. His personality and coaching talents gave our program national recognition. We will find a way to be better coaches and student-athletes so that the momentum that he created for us continues. It is going to a great program at Southern Maine. It's a great feeling when my assistants get promotions because it means they did an outstanding job here. Coach Roscoe will do awesome for the Huskies and we look forward to seeing him at NCAA's."
