Men's Track & Field cracks USTFCCCA Top 10

NEW ORLEANS – The Wesley College men's track & field team broke through the top-10 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Indoor Track & Field Top 25.

Wesley jumped 17 spots from the previous week's poll to No. 8 in the nation, the third-biggest jump in the top-25. Wesley is the highest ranked team in the top-25 in the Mideast Region.

The jump was largely based on Thomas Kalieta Jr's performance in the 400-meter dash at the Navy Select Invitational on Feb. 8. Kalieta set a new school record and won the 400 with a time of 47.97 seconds. That time ranks third in the nation behind two converted times on a flat track.

Kai Cole continues to lead the nation in the 60-meter dash with his win at the Ursinus Collegeville Classic on Jan. 19 finishing in 6.82 seconds, 0.05 seconds faster than the next best time.

Cole and Kalieta are in a three-way tie for ninth place in the 200-meter dash with their 21.74-second effort at the Navy Invitational on Jan. 26. John Heriot sits in 23rd place in the 200 with a time of 21.98 seconds.

Daquay Harris-Winbush and Javonte Freeman also factor in the ranking for Wesley. Harris-Winbush has the 23rd-best mark in the long jump with a leap of 6.98 meters (22-11). Freeman is in a tie for 33rd in the 60-meter hurdles clocking in at 8.41 seconds.
