NEW ORLEANS - The Wesley College men's track and field team climbed four spots to seventh in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Top 25.
After dropping to 11th from eighth in last week's poll, Wesley rebounded to seventh after great performances at the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Feb. 23. Wesley maintains the top spot in the Mideast Region and the fourth consecutive week in the Top 25.
Kai Cole and Thomas Kalieta remain in the top-10 in two individual events. Cole and Kalieta sit 1-2 in the 200-meter dash national rankings after a record-breaking race at the Boston University Last Chance. Cole clocked in at 21.40 seconds while Kalieta finished in 21.43 seconds.
Cole holds the second-best time in the nation in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.79 seconds while Kalieta sits sixth in the country in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.97 seconds. The times that are ahead of Kalieta are converted times from a flat track.
Kalieta and Kai Cole continued their scoring contributions teaming up with John Heriot and Tysean Cousar to sit at 11th place nationally in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.73. Heriot also ranks 27th in the 200 meters (21.91).
Wesley awaits their qualifiers to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championship, which takes place on March 8-9 in Boston, Mass.
