NEW ORLEANS – For the first time this outdoor season, the Wesley College men's track & field team broke the Top 10 in the nation in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index for Week 4.
Wesley comes into the week ranked ninth in the nation with a team total of 81.02 after great performances at the Morgan State Legacy Invitational on April 19-20. Wesley sits fourth in the Mideast Region in the regional rankings.
Kai Cole holds the top spot in Division III in the 100- and 200-meter dashes after the Morgan State Legacy Invitational. Cole broke Anthony Simpson's school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.05 seconds. Cole finished the 100-meter dash in 10.46 seconds at the meet. He placed third in both events at Morgan State.
Thomas Kalieta Jr. also performed well at Morgan State. Kalieta sits third in the country in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.72 seconds.
John Heriot ranks 11th in the nation in the 200-meter dash after he placed second at the Navy Spring Invitational with a time of 21.49 seconds. Kalieta is currently in 34th in the nation in the 200, clocking in at 21.80 seconds at Morgan State.
Wesley athletes in the 200-meter dash at the Morgan State Legacy Invitational were also named to the USTFCCCA #EventSquad with a combined time of 1:27.06, averaging a time of 21.76 seconds.
