LANCASTER, Pa. – The Wesley College men's track & field team were picked to win the first-ever Atlantic East Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, according to the Atlantic East Pre-Championship Poll.
Entering the conference meet as the 13th-ranked team in the nation, Wesley garnered 16 points and four first-place votes in the coaches' poll. Marywood received the final first-place vote and 13 points to finish second in the poll. Gwynedd Mercy (10 points), Neumann (7 points) and Immaculata (4 points) rounded out the pre-championship poll.
Led by 2019 indoor national champion and four-time Atlantic East Athlete of the Week freshman Kai Cole, Wesley will rely on the efforts from their sprinters and field events at the conference meet. Wesley holds 29 of the top-five times and marks in the conference with 11 being ranked first in the league.
Joining Cole in the Atlantic East Championships are former All-Americans Thomas Kalieta Jr., John Heriot and TySean Cousar on the track. Wesley will be led in the field events by former Capital Athletic Conference long jump champion senior Daquay Harris-Winbush and former Atlantic East Athlete of the Week freshman Brandon Faulk.
The two-day Atlantic East Conference Championship Meet, hosted by Gwynedd Mercy, starts on Saturday at 3 p.m. The meet will wrap up on Sunday with a 10 a.m. start.
