Dover, Del. – The Men's and Women's Track and Field team will open up their indoor season this weekend at the George Mason Patriot Games under new Head Coach, Greg Lambert.
Lambert comes to Wesley College by way of Boston University, where he spent the past 4 seasons as the Assistant Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach. While at BU Lambert coordinated all recruiting for sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers, as well as developed all of the training and racing plans for those areas.
Over his four years at BU, Lambert helped guide the Terriers to 26 Patriot League gold medals, coached three All-Americans, 13 NCAA East sectional qualifiers, two Team USA Championship qualifiers, a USA Junior qualifier and one Olympian. During his time, the Terriers have broken 10 school records and have had six Championship America Qualifiers at the Penn Relays.
Last season, the Wolverines placed second at the Atlantic East Conference Championship, earned six golds at the ECAC Championship, and had four athletes qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championship.
Lambert says, "I'm really looking forward to our season opener. The theme for the season this year has been "Trust the Process'' and "Be Patient". With any new coach, there is transition. We just need to keep moving forward. At George Mason, Evelina Sloboh will open up her senior campaign in the 60 and tentatively the 200. The goal for her is to be bigger than last year, and I think she is more than capable. The rest of the men's and women's team will open up next week at the Eastern Shore Invite".
