NEWARK, Del. - The Wesley College men's and women's cross country team battled the elements, as well as several top-tier NCAA Division I and Division III squads in the University of Delaware Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Delaware. The men's cross country team earned a seventh place team finish while the women's team earned a ninth place team finish.
The Wolverine men placed seventh out of nine squads. William Taylor crossed the line as the team's top finisher, completing the 8k event in 28:54.25. Carlton Sheppard and Ja'mier Bailey crossed at nearly the same time, coming in at 31:27.34 and 31:38.05, respectively. Jeff Koletsky was the fourth Wolverine across the line at 33:15.43 and Myles Watson rounded out the squad with a time of 33:55.32
On the women's side, Dieunise Desir was the team's top finisher. Desir navigated the 6k course in 27:53.07. Close behind Desir was Danae Carter, crossing at 27:55.11. Diandra Rhoden crossed the finish line in 29:04.54 as the third Wolverine to finish and Chiquita Deline came in at 29:29.22. Quadira Minus was the fifth Wolverine to complete the course, finishing in 30:38.48.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will compete again at St. Mary's College (Md.) on Sept. 19.
