MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Despite two home runs by senior catcher Ashlyn Booth, Wesley College's softball team dropped a pair of games to Penn State-Altoona at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach. The Wolverines (2-3) dropped the opener, 14-10 before falling 14-1 in game two.
Booth homered once in both games and went 5-6 on the day as the Wolverines fought well against the Lions in the opener. Her two home runs equal her total from last season.
Wesley fell behind 3-0 in the opener after the first inning but Booth led off the top of the second with a solo blast, followed by a two-run double by Barker. The Wolverines would tack on another in the inning to take a 4-3 lead.
The Lions would then score six in their half of the second but once again Wesley responded and after a bases-clearing double by Brynae Goodley in the third, a Piscopo RBI in the fourth and another run in the fifth it was all tied up at nine.
PSU (4-0) then scored five runs in the next two innings and the Wolverines could only muster one run in the seventh.
Wesley takes on Juniata tomorrow at 9:30 am and Penn State-Beaver at 11:30.
