DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's softball team won a program-record seventh-straight game, blanking Briarcliffe (N.Y.) in back-to-back games, 7-0/3-0, on Saturday afternoon at DuPont Softball Field. The Wolverines now stand at 12-1 overall while the Bulldogs fall to 0-2.
Lindsay Siok tossed a one-hit shutout in game one, striking out nine batters in her seven innings of work while Sarah Saunders went a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI at the plate in the opener. Brook Creighton, Tiarra Maddox and Devin Mackay all drove in a pair of runs in game one.
Maddox put Wesley ahead with a two-run double to left in the very first inning and Mackay duplicated that with a two-run double to dead center in the third inning.
In the Wolverines final at-bat, Creighton also had a two-run double and Saunders followed with a RBI single.
While the offense put up 11 hits, Siok dominated retiring the final eight batters.
Lily Engel was almost as impressive in the nightcap, allowing just six hits while striking out three in her seventh win of the year.
Breanna Hartman later delivered with a two-run double in the fourth inning, allowing Creighton and Mackay to score.
The Wolverines return to action Sunday, March 22 when they travel to Gallaudet for a 1 pm twinbill.
