LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore utility player Ashley Royer was named Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Royer hit .769 (10-for-13) with a home run, 13 RBIs, three doubles, and two triples in sweeps over Lincoln (Pa.) and Swarthmore this past weekend. Royer has registered at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, and posted a slugging percentage of 1.538. Royer also registered one walk and didn't strikeout in 15 plate appearances.
Royer was also named Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday and Wesley Wolverine of the Week on Tuesday.
Royer's award marks to the first time a Wesley softball history that a player has received an NFCA weekly honor.
The Wesley softball team will travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. over spring break to compete in the week-long Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic. Wesley will open the tournament on Mon., March 6 with a doubleheader against Medaille and Ursinus starting at 9:30 a.m.
