Royer homers as Wesley drops doubleheader to Frostburg St.

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College softball team fell in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) doubleheader to the Frostburg State Bobcats on Saturday.

Wesley dropped the first game of the doubleheader 11-2 to Frostburg St.

Ashley Royer tallied two hits in the opener, including a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Nina Marcano and Megan DiRubbio both went 1-for-2 while DiRubbio scored once.

Frostburg's Allison Short struck out eight Wolverines.

Frostburg's Hannah Tavik recorded a one-hitter against Wesley in Frostburg's 10-0 win in the nightcap of the doubleheader.

Lauren Hoffman notched the lone Wesley hit in the fourth inning. Hoffman, Samantha Burns and Karina Cardona registered walks for Wesley.

The Wolverines (14-10, 2-4 CAC) will be back in action on Monday when they host the Penn State Brandywine Lions in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
