SALISBURY, Md. – The Wesley College softball team played two tough Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) games against the Salisbury Seagulls but dropped the doubleheader to the local rivals.
Lindsay Siok only gave up one unearned run in game one as the Seagulls picked up the 1-0 win over the Wolverines. Siok only allowed four hits and a walk while striking out four to earn a complete game.
The Seagulls score their only run in the bottom of the fourth when Mikayla Meehan singled, stole second base and scored on a Wolverine error.
The Wolverines played another pitchers' duel in the nightcap of the doubleheader but the Seagulls recorded the 2-0 win to seal the doubleheader sweep.
Siok gave up two hits while allowing two walks and two runs (one earned) in another complete-game effort.
Meehan came around to score the first run for the Seagulls in the second inning when Emily Allen reached on a Wolverine fielding error. Allen eventually scored from third on a Wolverine 6-4-3 double play.
The Wolverines (16-12, 2-6 CAC) will return to action on Saturday when they head to Fredericksburg, Va. to battle the Mary Washington Eagles in a CAC doubleheader. The games are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
