DOVER, Del. – Senior catcher/infielder Nina Marcano earned her second Fastpitch News (FPN) National Player of the Week honor of the season on Tuesday. Marcano also received the National Player of the Week award from FPN on March 14.
Marcano batted .529 with two home runs, seven RBIs, five runs scored and four doubles on the week. Marcano slugged 1.053 and recorded an on-base percentage of .545 in six games,
Marcano tied the school record for most hits in a career with a grand slam against Penn St.-Abington. She later broke the hits record with a double in the first inning against Penn St.-Harrisburg. Marcano is the Wesley all-time leader in hits, triples, runs scored, RBIs and steals.
Marcano leads the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) with 20 stolen bases on the season. She also ranks second in the CAC in slugging percentage (.758), tied for second in hits (55), runs batted in (44) and home runs (6) and fourth in batting average (.458).
The Wolverines (19-17, 5-9 CAC) will wrap up the 2017 season on Tuesday when they host the Eastern Eagles in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
