DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College softball team rolled through the Eastern Eagles in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday to wrap up the 2017 regular season.
Wesley erased an early deficit to pick up the 2-1 victory in game one over Eastern.
After Eastern's Kelsey Clever hit a sacrifice fly to score Sam Albertson in the top of the first, Wesley took the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second on back-to-back RBI doubles by Casey Beall and Brooke Retkowski.
The one-run lead would prove to be enough for Lindsay Siok to earn her 16th win of the season. Retkowski, Beall, Samantha Burns, Megan DiRubbio, Nina Marcano, Devin Mackay, Ashley Royer and Lauren Hoffman all tallied a hit in the win.
Wesley recorded 14 runs in the nightcap to cruise to a five-inning 14-2 win over Eastern to clinch to doubleheader sweep.
Each Wesley starter registered at least one hit in the finale of the doubleheader. Mackay and Royer each collected three hits and two runs scored while Royer cracked a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Mackay drove in four runs in the win.
DiRubbio and Marcano also scored twice for Wesley while DiRubbio added two hits for Wesley.
Karina Cardona notched a two-run double in the third inning.
Lily Engel only allowed two runs (one earned) to pick up her fourth win of the season.
The Wolverines end the 2017 season 21-17 overall and 5-9 in the Capital Athletic Conference.
