Softball ends spring trip with doubleheader split

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Wesley College softball team split their doubleheader on Friday to end their week-long spring break trip in the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Wesley opened their day with an 11-1 five-inning win over Clarks Summit Defenders.

Brandi Dalious and Ashley Royer both notched three hits and scored three times in the run-rule victory. Royer tallied a pair of doubles while Dalious drove in four runs in the game, including a two-run home run to left field in the fourth inning.

Karina Cardona and Amanda Curry each recorded two hits and an RBI. Curry scored twice and registered an RBI. Megan DiRubbio chipped in with an RBI double in the third inning.

In her lone official at-bat of the game, Lauren Hoffman cleared the bases with a three-run triple to right field in the bottom of the first.

Abbey Mayse struck out two to pick up her second win of the season.

In the second game, Wesley could only muster two hits and fell to the Emory & Henry Wasps 10-0 in five innings.

Hoffman and MyKayla Bird each collected a hit in the nightcap.

The Wolverines (9-4) will be back in action on Tuesday when they face the Immaculata Mighty Macs in a road doubleheader on Tuesday. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
