Mayse tallies new career-high against Washington

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College softball team fell to the Washington College Shorewomen at home, 19-0 on Wednesday.

On the mound, Abbey Mayse registered a career-high seven strikeouts through five innings pitched.

Wesley drew two walks in the first game. After being hit by a pitch in the bottom of the second inning, Brooke Retkowski recorded her first stolen base of the season.

All nine of Washington's starters recorded multi-hit performances at the plate.

The second game of the doubleheader between Wesley and Washington was halted due to weather heading into the top of the third with Wesley leading 7-1. A makeup date is still to be determined.

Wesley (0-2) will be back in action in the warm Myrtle Beach weather when they compete in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. Wesley's first day of games will be against the Ferrum Panthers and the Penn State-Harrisburg Lions on Sunday, Mar. 3.
