MOBILE, Ala. – Wesley College graduate Ashley Royer recently declared the 2019 American Softball Association (ASBA) Draft, which will be held on June 5, 2019.
Royer finished her career in 2019 as one of the most decorated athletes in Wesley softball history. Royer is a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honoree, earning first team accolades in 2017 and third team honors in 2018. She is also a three-time all-conference player, making the All-Capital Athletic Conference First Team in 2018. Royer was named All-Eastern College Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in 2018. In 2017, she collected Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week honors.
This season, Royer landed a spot on the All-Atlantic East Second Team after leading the team and finishing 10th in the conference in batting with a .390 average. Royer also sat third in the league in hits (48), tied for third in triples (4), fourth in slugging percentage (.691), runs scored (34), doubles (14) and fifth in home runs (5). Serving as one of the senior leaders of the team, Royer helped the fifth-seeded Wolverines make a run in the Atlantic East Championship Tournament and finish as runners-up in the conference.
In the Wesley record books, Royer holds the doubles record with 42. She also sits second in career runs batted in (111) and hits (170) and is in the top-five all-time in home runs, batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored and walks.
