Anderson Tosses Shutout, Wesley Softball Wins Fifth Straight at Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC – With Wesley's spirits running high after forcing their first four games over Spring Break to a mercy rule, the Wolverines battled the Falcons on Field Two in a pitching duel 1-0. They improve their regular season record to a comfortable 8-3.

The Softball team's first scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the second when Gabriella Monzo and Kaitlyn Cardona both singled to put runners on first and second base with no outs. Unfortunately, they couldn't find a way past Cedar Crest's impressive pitching with the Falcons securing three outs without any damage done.

In the fourth inning, a mid-game rally by the Wolverines earned them the first and only run of the game. After the team got runners on from a hit-by-pitch and a walk, Brooke Retkowski hopped on a good pitch to hit and belted a single down the right field line, knocking in Brooke McCormick to break the tie 1-0.

Jessica Anderson would dismantle the Falcons' bats through the fifth, sixth, and seventh, allowing just one hit over the three innings. She would go the distance to pitch the complete game and earn her fourth win of the season. On the day, she allowed no runs on just four hits while lighting up the "K" column with seven.

Wesley's next task will be facing off against East. Mennonite on Field Six tomorrow morning at 9:30a.m. They will then wait for Otterbein to arrive at the field for a matchup at 1:30p.m. later on.
