Owens Named D3hoops.com All-Region

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Wesley College's Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Atlantic Region third team after leading the Wolverines to the championship game of the ECAC South Tournament.
Owens averaged a double-double with 14.5 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game. The sophomore turned in 16 double-doubles on her way to a school record 332 rebounds on the season.
She led the CAC in both rebounding and her .594 field goal percentage not only led the conference, but ranked eighth in Division III. Owens also blocked 2.2 shots per game to rank second in the CAC.
She is the first Wolverine named D3hoops.com all-region since T'Neisha Turner in 2005-06. Turner was named All-Mid-Atlantic Region, however, as Wesley was a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference at the time.
The CAC was well represented on the 2008-09 All-Atlantic teams with five of the 15 selections. York (Pa.)'s Keli Ward was named to the first team and Ashton Mitchell of Mary Washington earned a place on the second team. Owens' was one of three CAC student-athletes on the third team, joined by York's April Sparkman and Kathleen Brown of Marymount.
Wesley finished 17-13 in 2008-09 and 10-6 in the CAC. The Wolverines earned a spot in the ECAC South Championship Tournament after the season and advanced to the championship game.
