Owens Named D3hoops.com All-Region

MINNEAPOLIS - Wesley College junior Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) was named to the All-Atlantic Region Second Team by D3hoops.com.

Owens managed to move up one spot this season after earning a place on the third team a year ago.

Owens posted an impressive all-around season as a junior.  She led the conference in blocked shots at 2.6 per game and defensive rebounds at 8.1 per game, and finished fourth in the CAC in scoring (16.3), third in rebounding (10.6), second in field goal percentage (.551), eighth in offensive rebounds (2.5), eighth in free throw percentage (.664) and 10th in steals (1.9). In addition to scoring her 1,000th career point during the year, Owens was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week and the ECAC Division III South Player of the Week once each and the CAC Player of the Week three times.

In addition to picking up her second career D3hoops.com All-Region honor, she also was named All-CAC for the second consecutive season.

The CAC was a fixture on the All-Region teams.  Easter Faafiti of Gallaudet was named Player of the Year, while Marymount (Va.)'s Bill Finney was named Coach of the Year.  Faafiti was named to the first team, while Owens was joined by York (Pa.)'s April Sparkman and Marymount's Kathleen Brown on the second team.

Wesley finished 17-11 in 2009-10, finishing third in the CAC and advancing to the ECAC South Tournament.
