Wolverines Blaze Blazers

DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's women's basketball team fought hard to earn its first win of the season, defeating the Hood College Blazers, 53-46 at Wentworth Gymnasium.

The Wolverines proved to be too much for the Blazers, spreading the ball around as nine of their players put points on the board.

Both Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) and Katie Kirk (Drexel Hill, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) led the team in points, totaling 12 points apiece.  Kirk sank an impressive four three point baskets, along with four rebounds and a steal. Miller also had two steals, two assists, a block and eight rebounds. Kirk stepped up with four minutes left in the game, sinking three of her three pointers to guarantee the win for Wesley.

Junior Rachelle Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) also had an impressive game, leading the team with seven assists. She also had two steals and seven points. Freshman Aleisha Hobbs (Salisbury, Md./Merdela) led the team in rebounds with nine, and added two steals and five points.

The Wolverines are back in action on December 12 against Catholic at home at 7:00pm.
