Women’s Hoops Falls To Catholic
DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's women's basketball team fell to Catholic University, 69-49, Monday night at Wentworth Gymnasium. The Wolverines fall to 1-5 on the year while the Cardinals improve to 7-1.
The Wolverines kept it close in the first half and went into the locker room down just nine but Catholic opened the second half on a 14-4 run over the first six minutes to open a 19-point lead.
Rachelle Allen led Wesley with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting to go with six rebounds and six steals. Aleisha Hobbs also played well, going for 11 points and eight rebounds while shooting 5-of-9 from the floor. Coming off the bench, Aleksandra Belcovska sunk a pair of threes and put in another two jumpers for 10 points.
Three players scored in double figures for the Cardinals, paced by Jill Woerner with 18. Jenny McGann added 13 points and Katarina Owunna pitched in with 12.
The Navy and White are back in action Saturday, December 17, when they travel to Washington College for a 5 pm tipoff.
