Women's Hoops Falls To Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Wesley College's women's basketball fell to Washington College, 69-58, Saturday night at Cain Athletic Center.  The Wolverines move to 1-6 on the season while the Shorewomen improve to 4-4.

Heather Fuller led Wesley with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and eight rebounds while Rachelle Allen finished with 11 points and eight assists.  Allen also did not commit a turnover on the night and recorded three steals.  Aleisha Hobbs pitched in with ten points as well.

Led by Fuller scoring the team's first six points, Wesley jumped out to a 14-7 lead with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half.  However, Washington College quickly regrouped and went on a long run as Wesley suddenly went cold from the floor.

The Shorewomen went into the break with a 37-19 lead and midway through the second held a 23 point lead, its largest of the night.  Wesley would not go down without a fight as Rachelle Allen led a Wolverine counter-attack.  In the next 8 minutes and 20 seconds, Allen scored eight points and after a pair of free throws by Fuller, Wesley cut the deficit to 63-53 with 3:27 remaining in regulation.

The ten-point margin was as close as the Navy & White would get as the Shorewomen held on for the victory.

The Wolverines committed a season-low nine turnovers and scored 21 points off 13 Washington College turnovers.

Next on the agenda for Wesley is a home contest against Centenary (N.J.) on December 22 at 2 pm.
