Women’s Hoops Falls To Rowan
DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's women's basketball team fell to Rowan University, 65-46 Monday night at the Wentworth Gymnasium. The Wolverines fall to 2-9 on the season while Rowan improves to 6-8.
Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) led all scorers with 15 points and also dished out seven assists, while Pez Scott (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) added 12 points to pace the Wolverines. Miller also added six steals and is ranked among the nation's leaders in the category.
Aleisha Hobbs (Salisbury, Md./Mardela) grabbed a game-high ten rebounds, while Heather Fuller (Greenwood, Del./Sussex Tech) tallied seven of her own.
Despite the performances from Miller and Scott, the Profs ran away from Wesley early in the contest, jumping out to a 13-2 lead with 16:45 remaining in the opening period. The Wolverines fought right back with a 10-2 run of their own, paced by a pair of threes by Scott, to cut the score to 15-12 but that was as close as Wesley would get the remainder of the game.
Rowan outshot the Navy & White, 41.4% to 34.5% on the night and made 12-of-24 free throws to just 1-of-7 for the Wolverines.
Wesley returns to action on Wednesday, January 11th when they host Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury in a 6 pm tipoff.
