DOVER, De – Wesley College's women's basketball team sunk 28 sunk free throws to stay in the game and got to within just a few points in the closing moments of the game but they were not enough to help them overcome the Bobcats in an afternoon showdown in Wentworth Gym. Wesley lost, 72-68, taking their record to 4-15, 1-9 in the CAC while Frostburg State advances to 4-13, 2-9 in the CAC.
The first half ended with a score of 41-26 with the Bobcats having what seemed to be an insurmountable lead. The Wolverines were not going to let the Bobcats just have the game though. Tiara White and Brionna Johnson joined together to score ten points to bring the team within seven points just four minutes into the second half.
The Wolverines continued battling and two made free throws by Brittney Kerns with 2.25 minutes left brought the team within just one. The Bobcats would fight back over the next two minutes and the last ditch efforts by the Wolverines were not enough to bring in the win.
White and Johnson each brought in a double-double with 21 and 19 points; 15 and 13 rebounds respectively, while Kerns scored seven points from the charity stripe.
The Wolverines return to the court on Wednesday, February 5 at 6:00PM when they play York College in York, PA.
