Johnson Named All-Tournament as Wolverines fall in Championship Game

ASTON, Pa – Brionna Johnson bested her own opening day boards by grabbing a total of 18 rebounds in the Wolverines second game of the season on Sunday afternoon at the Mirenda Center. The Wolverines took second in the tournament, after falling to the Knights of Neumann 59-49.

The Wolverines started the games out on a high note, with Johnson scoring the first six points of the game on back to back 3 point shots. The Wolverines would remain ahead of the Knights for the entire first half, leading by as many as nine points.

Unfortunately, the Wolverines were unable to hold onto their lead into the second half. Neumann Forward, Holly McKaig, scored eight points in the first five minutes of the second half to give Neumann their first lead of the game. Wesley's Roniece Williams scored seven straight points to put the Wolverines back on top.

The Wolverines and the Knights continued to battle back and forth until a Neumann timeout with five minutes left would give the Knights enough rest and inspiration to take the game away.

Johnson would score 15 points in the game and be the lone Wolverine named to the All-Tournament team. Tiara White (13 rebounds) and Williams would each add 11 points each to the team total.

The Wolverines travel to Morgan State for a 5:30 start on Tuesday, November 18.
