BALTIMORE, Md. – Brionna Johnson recorded her third-straight double-double to open the season but it was not enough as the Wesley College women's basketball team fell at Division I Morgan State, 90-50, on Tuesday night at Hill Field House. Both the Wolverines and Bears are 1-2 on the year.
A sophomore from Smyrna, Del., Johnson recorded 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting along with a pair of triples and grabbed ten rebounds to lead the Navy & White. Unfortunately, the rest of the team shot 7-of-40 from the field and the Wolverines made just 23.1% of their field goals.
Brittney Kerns had a career day, however, finishing with ten points while making all eight of her free throws. Alexis Stroud also made two threes and finished with eight points to go with four rebounds and a team-high three assists.
Morgan State scored the game's first nine points and led 48-22 at the half. Tracey Carrington tallied a game-high 27 points for the Bears.
Wesley returns to action on Saturday, November 22 when it travels to Penn State-Altoona for a 2 pm tipoff.
