Wolverines Fall Short in Conference Play

Dover, Del. – Both teams got off to slow start in this afternoon's matchup. The Wolverines were first on the board with a jump shot from Alexus Stroud with 6:56 left in the quarter. At the end of the first half the Wolverines trailed the Seahawks by ten.

Brionna Johnson and Tiyanna Gibbs led the Wolverines with 13 points. Johnson recorded 15 rebounds on the day. Gibbs caused 5 turnovers and dished out one blocked shot this afternoon.

Alexus Stroud netted 10 points for the Wolverines today. Stroud recorded six rebounds and shot 23.5% from the floor.  Wesley shot 21.1% from the floor and 7.4% from behind the arc. The Wolverines tallied 53 rebounds on the day.

Entering the 4th quarter the Wolverines trailed the Seahawks by one, 38-37. With 4:19 left in the match the Wolverines pulled ahead of the Seahawks. After a hard fought battle the Seahawks walked away with the conference win, 55-52. The Wolverines now move to a 1-5 conference record and 5-7 overall. The Wolverines will return Wednesday evening for a conference contest against the Lions of Penn St.-Harrisburg.
