Career Night by O'Neale Fuels Wolverines Victory

Dover, Del. – The Wolverines came out strong in tonight's battle against conference foe Penn State-Harrisburg. The Wolverines went up by five with 06:14 remaining in the first half. The Wolverines maintained their lead for the entire first half, shooting 35.1% from the floor.

 

Senior Brionna Johnson had a stellar performance in tonight's conference match-up. Johnson led the squad with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson sank one from behind the arc to put the Wolverines up 21-13 with 08:41 remaining in the 3rd quarter. Stacey O'Neale went 3-5 from behind the arc, notching 15 points on the night.  

 

Tiyanna Gibbs recorded 12 points, shooting 6-11 from the floor. Gibbs tallied eight rebounds against the Lions. The junior dished out five assists on the night and caused three turnovers.

 

The Wolverines entered the third quarter leading the Lions 35-27. In the second half the Wolverines came out strong shooting 42.4% from the floor. The Wolverines maintained their lead throughout the third quarter. The squad entered the fourth quarter with a nine point lead over the Lions. Brittney Kerns sank one from behind the arc with 08:44 remaining in the game to put the Wolverines up 56-50. The Wolverines battled hard in the fourth to come out victorious over the Lions 71-67.

 

The Wolverines advance to 2-5 in the conference and 6-8 overall. Wesley heads to Virginia to take on conference foe Mary Washington this Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.
