Women’s Basketball holds off Arcadia, 58-56

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's basketball team held off a late Arcadia rally to down the Knights 58-56 in the 2017-18 home opener on Sunday. 

The Wolverines used a hot start to propel them to victory The Wolverines scored 20 points in the opening quarter.

Tiyanna Gibbs led the Wolverines with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Gibbs knocked down three three-pointers while adding four rebounds and three assists.

Monshea Newsome-Murray picked up 15 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Shelby Johnson reeled in nine rebounds and scored five points.

Stacey O'Neale tallied 12 points off the bench, all three-pointers.

Sydney Cyr led the Knights with 25 points.

The Wolverines (2-2) will resume conference play on Wednesday when they host the York (Pa.) Spartans. Tip off from Wentworth Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
