Women’s basketball upended by No. 2 CNU

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Wesley College women's basketball team was upended 74-40 to the 2nd-ranked Christopher Newport Captains in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) matchup on Sunday.

Shelby Johnson paced the Wolverines with nine points and six rebounds, both team-highs. Monshea Newsome-Murray tallied eight points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Alexus Stroud recorded seven points off the bench while Tiyanna Gibbs and Megan Shacklock both registered six points.

Stacey O'Neale and Maura Binkley each reeled in four rebounds for the Wolverines.

Sam Porter led the Captains with 11 points. 

The Wolverines will step out of the CAC schedule when they face the Rosemont Ravens in non-conference action. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
