Three players reach double figures in season opener against McDaniel

DOVER, Del. – The Wesley College women's basketball team fell in their 2018-19 season opener to the McDaniel Green Terror, 72-55.

Three players scored double-digits in the loss for Wesley. Monshea Newsome-Murray led Wesley with a team-high 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals. She shot 5-of-11 from the field and went 4-of-6 from the charity stripe.

Jameshia Baker notched 13 points in her collegiate debut behind a 4-of-8 effort from behind the three-point line. Baker added three assists and a pair of rebounds.

Stacey O'Neale had 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including two three-pointers. Katelyn Watson and Paige Hailstock each chipped in with six points off the bench. Watson also pulled down seven rebounds.

Shelby Johnson tallied eight rebounds in the loss.

Liv Storer had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead McDaniel.

Wesley will take part in the two-day Hampton Inn Tip-off at Messiah College starting on Friday, Nov. 16. The Wolverines will face the host Falcons to open the tournament on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
