Women’s Basketball stumbles to host Messiah at Hampton Inn Tip-Off

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Wesley College women's basketball team dropped a 64-40 decision in the opening contest of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off to the host Messiah Falcons on Friday.

Stacey O'Neale tallied a team-best 11 points while Monshea Newsome-Murray and Shelby Johnson each notched 10 points apiece. Johnson pulled down a team-high nine rebounds while Newsome-Murray recorded six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

O'Neale, Jameshia Baker and Megan Shacklock all grabbed three rebounds respectively. Baker chipped in with four points while Sydney Pederson had three points.

Maci Thornton registered a game-high 22 points to lead Messiah to the win.

Wesley (0-2) will take on the Lancaster Bible Chargers in the consolation game of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off on Saturday at 1 p.m.
