DOVER, Del. – Sophomore forward Shelby Johnson netted her first double-double of the season as the Wesley College women's basketball falls to the King's (Pa.) Monarchs, 91-69 on Thursday.
Johnson paced the Wolverines with a season-high 19 rebounds and 18 points. She shot 8-of-16 from the field and added a pair of assists.
Angelique Gathers recorded 14 points, her third consecutive game in double figures. Gathers was a rebound away from a double-double, collecting nine rebounds.
Monshea Newsome-Murray tallied nine assists, six steals, seven points and five rebounds. Stacey O'Neale knocked down three 3-pointers to register nine points.
Off the bench, Lauryn Adams notched seven points while Jameshia Baker and Katelyn Watson chipped in with five and four points respectively.
As a team, Wesley held the 50-46 rebounding edge over King's
Rebecca Prociak led King's with 29 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists.
Wesley (1-4) will begin Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday when they host the Immaculata Mighty Macs. Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. from Wentworth Gymnasium.
