Women’s Basketball cruises through Trinity, 93-25

WASHINGTON, D.C. -  The Wesley College women's basketball team hit on all cylinders in a 93-25 rout of the Trinity (D.C.) Tigers on Wednesday night.

Every player that saw action scored for the Wolverines with five players reaching double figures. As a team, Wesley outshot Trinity 42.5 percent to 17 percent from the field and nearly quadrupled Trinity on the glass with Wesley tallying 72 rebounds compared to Trinity's 20 boards.

Shelby Johnson paced the Wolverines with her seventh double-double of the season, collecting a game-high 14 rebounds with 13 points. Stacey O'Neale led the offense with 14 points, including hitting 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Sydney Pedersen recorded 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Monshea Newsome-Murray was the passing the ball all around the floor with a game-high 11 assists. Newsome-Murray also notched five points, five rebounds and five steals.

Off the bench, Lekeshia Brown-Myrick registered career-highs in points, assists and steals. She scored 13 points and added five rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Jameshia Baker also netted double-digit points off the bench, recording 11 points along with eight rebounds. SherVohnia Tolson, Angelique Gathers and Paige Hailstock each scored six points. Tolson pulled down 10 rebounds, which matched her career-best while Hailstock and Gathers reeled in six and four rebounds respectively. Katelyn Watson had seven rebounds and five points in the win.

Wesley's 93 points were the most scored in a game since the Wolverines scored 93 points in the opening game of the 2015-16 season against Southern Virginia.

The Wolverines resume Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday when they start a three-game homestand against the Marywood Pacers. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
