Dover, Del. - The Wesley Women's Basketball team (5-15, 0-9) continued their home games as they took on opponent, Immaculata (10-11, 4-4) on Saturday, Feb. 8th. The Wolverines fell to the Mighty Macs 41-70.
Wesley was the first team to get on the board Saturday afternoon, with a lay-up by, Sydney Pederson. With the game tied up, Megan Shacklock, came through with a 3-point swish to put them ahead. Through determination and teamwork, Wesley took the first quarter, giving themselves an eight-point lead going into the second.
The second quarter was fast-paced, with both teams putting points on the board consistently. The Wolverines were able to keep their lead going into half time, 28-24.
The second half started with both teams putting points on the board within the first minute. Immaculata continued to score, draining several buckets, putting them ahead,30-41 with five and a half minutes left in the third quarter. The wolverines tried to fight back but were unsuccessful, 30-55 going into the final quarter.
Three minutes into the first quarter Zariya Jackson, splashed a three-pointer helping to break the dry spell. Followed by a swift lay-up by Pederson.
Despite Wesley's best efforts during the game, Immaculata came on top with the win, 70-41.
Scoring for the Wolverines was led by Katelyn Watson with nine points and two rebounds. Followed by Shervohnia Tolson with seven points and nine rebounds.
The Wolverines return home to Wentworth Gym on Tuesday, Feb. 11th as they take on the Valley Forge Patriots at 6:00 p.m.
