HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Wesley College topped 20 goals for the second straight match with a 22-16 win over Savannah College of Art & Design on the Wolverines southern trip over spring break.
Wesley (2-2) led just 17-16 with 15:12 to play, but held SCAD (0-5) off the scoreboard for the rest of the evening, closing the game with five goals in the final 8:44.
Jade Martin (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) scored six goals to lead the Wolverines, while Stephanie Bailey (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) added five more and had an assist for six points.
After the Bees' Nicole Mula scored to open the game, Wesley (2-2) took control with a 7-2 run before the teams traded goals over the final 18 minutes of the half as the Wolverines took a 12-10 lead into the break.
Leslie Cervenka (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) had a five-point evening with three goals and a pair of assists. Katelyn Randes (Odenton, Md/Arundel) also had three goals in the match.
Brooke Bennett (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) paced the defense with eight caused turnovers and chipped in with a pair of scores on the offensive end. Sheree Pleasanton (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) picked up six ground balls and aided on a two goals.
Mula had seven goals in the loss and added an assist for eight points.
Farryn Kauffman (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made six saves in goal.
The win was Wesley's second straight to pull the Wolverines to .500 on the season. It was also Wesley's fourth match on its season opening six match road trip.
