Wesley Stopped at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford used an 8-0 run to start the game to halt a hot Wesley College team that had tallied over 40 total goals in the previous two matches in a 16-2 non-conference final.

Six different Fords scored as the home team built a 7-0 halftime lead.

After Haverford (3-0) scored another goal to make it 8-0, Wesley (2-3) got scores from Jade Martin (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) and Katelyn Randes (Hereford, Md./Hereford ) as the Wolverines cut it to 9-2 with 21:24 to play.  The Fords tightened the defense, however, and held Wesley to just one shot for the remainder of the contest.

Josie Ferri, who led all players with seven draw controls and three caused turnovers, and Casey Sanborn each scored four goals for Haverford.  Jen Schmidt added three scores.

Farryn Kauffman (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) had four saves for Wesley, while her counterpart Siobhan Neitzel stopped three shots.

Wesley concludes its six-match season opening road trip with a contest at Frostburg State on Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 PM.
