FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State's Ali Kapustin converted a free position shot with 13 seconds left to force overtime, and the Bobcats beat Wesley College in overtime with a 12-11 final in non-conference action.
After Kopustin's goal forced overtime, Rachel Frank scored her fourth goal of the game and Lindsey Chaffman stretched Frostburg's lead to 12-10 before the teams switched sides. In the final three minutes, Alyssa Prudente (Hereford, Md./Hereford) pulled the Wolverines to within one but Wesley could not tie the game.
The Wolverines scored the final four goals of the first half to send the teams into the intermission tied at 4-4, then had four different players score goal as Wesley went ahead 8-5 with 19:21 to go in regulation.
Frank's third goal of the afternoon tied the game at 9-9, but Leslie Cervenka (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) gave the Wolverines a 10-9 lead with 1:31 to play.
Prudente, Cervenka, Jade Martin (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) and Stephanie Bailey (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) each scored two goals in a balanced Wesley attack.
Amanda Browning (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) picked up eight ground balls and forced three turnovers.
Erin Morrell made an astounding 22 saves in the win for Frostburg State.
The contest closed Wesley's six-match road trip to open the season. The Wolverines host Mary Washington in their home opener on March 10.
