YORK, Pa. - Wesley College junior defender Brooke Bennett (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) was named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference Second Team for the second straight year in voting by the conference coaches.
It is the third all-conference selection of her career after earning a place on the All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference before Wesley moved to the CAC.
The junior paced the conference in 2009 with 2.50 caused turnovers per game and was third with 3.44 ground balls per game. Bennett totaled 40 caused turnovers and 55 ground balls on the year and also added four goals, including a game-winner.
With her senior season still to play, Bennett is already third on the Wesley career chart for ground balls (177) and second in caused turnovers (112).
She helped lead a Wesley defense that led the conference in ground balls and finished just behind NCAA Tournament participants Salisbury and Mary Washington in caused turnovers. The Wolverines also posted a school record with two shutouts in 2009.
St. Mary's senior midfielder Lauren Carrier was selected as the Player of the Year, Mary Washington attack Catherine Kennedy captured Rookie of the Year honors and Salisbury's Jim Nestor was chosen as Coach of the Year.
Wesley finished the season 7-9.
