STEVENSON, Md. - Stevenson used an 11-goal run in the middle of the game to claim a 19-2 win over Wesley in the Wolverines' season opener.
The Mustangs (4-0, 3-0 CAC) jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Mia Brocco (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) fed Nina Cornog (Wilmington, Del./Concord) with 13:24 left in the first half. Stevenson started its run with three of Megan Weiss' four goals on the game and took an 11-1 lead at the half.
The second half opened with seven more Mustang scores before Jen Jacobs (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) found the back of the net for Wesley (0-1, 0-1 CAC) with a 1:00 left in the contest.
The goals by Cornog and Jacobs were career firsts for the freshmen. In addition to her assist, Brocco led Wesley with four ground balls.
Alyssa Batty (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made 13 saves for the Wolverines in her first career game.
Lauren Zegowitz and Kirstin Gancarz each finished with three goals and three assists for Stevenson.
Wesley will look to rebound when Hood visits Scott D. Miller Stadium on Thursday, March 4 at 3:00 PM.
